Fresh in Stripes

If you love classics and basics, you probably own stripes something, neutral something and navy something.  Doesn't matter if it's a dress, top, shoes, scarf, bag, shirt or blazer. Wouldn't it be nice if we could use what we have in the closet already and put a new twist on it just by adding one or two  trendy pieces?  These looks below do just that and I absolutely love the classic simplicity paired with trendy touches to induce a new energetic twist on good old stripe based theme.

Stripes are classic and so versatile to play with. A good mix of shimmer, shine, stripes and color can add a major holiday touch to fall / winter season and bring out a brighter warmer feel to balance out the dull effects  that are often associated with the cold season.

Sunshine after Rain - Adding yellow and green tones to a nautical inspired scheme with a color and pattern palette filled with blues and stripes can put a sunshiny twist to a water themed look. Sunflowers are affordable and are perfect lively accents which can make you feel like there is sunshine after rain. Blair from Atlantic Pacific paired her striped dress with yellow-green color palette which looks like a fresh and a modern take on the classic look.

Shimmer, Shine and Oxblood -  Adding pieces with shimmer and shine mimics the reflective quality of the beautiful sun rays to warm up a cool nautical themed look. Oxblood adds a fiery touches to intensify the warm vibe which is perfect to balance out the cool side of stripes and blues. Click here for inspiration.

Dark Streak - Pairing stripes with dark and edgy waxed or leather pieces coupled with a touch of on-trend color is another look to go for. Annabelle from VivaLuxury Blog styled her striped top with dark leather to add an edgy vibe to the basic striped look.

The best part about using classic pieces in stripe patterns or neutral and navy colors is that you can buy quality pieces and use them for a long time. Do you like these looks? Which one is your favorite? How would you add a fresh fall vibe to the classic stripe based look?  Would love to read your comments :)

  7. I own so many striped tops that I had to put a ban on buying them lol. I do love the look of stripes and how they can be dressed up or down. I'm currently looking for an oxblood piece to pair with my stripes :)

    1. I agree. They can be dressed up or down and that's probably why it will always have a space in our closet. I own a few but not too many. I have a family that pushes me to experiment. I have stripes in black, dark blue and light blue :)

  13. i love a striped top! it always looks so parisian chic. whether you keep it simple or bling it up it always works. i love a classic blazer, with jeans and loafers/or ballet flat. what i would add now is a great statement necklace as you have shown above! that's very nice! i also like striped tops with a little glitter on them or adornment on the shoulders.
